I am amazed by the University of Wisconsin La Crosse's Recreational Center! They offer outdoor gear rentals to the public and students (at a discount). The prices are super reasonable, and they have pretty much everything you could ever need for outdoor adventures year round!

The equipment rentals range from canoeing/kayaking gear, mountain bikes, camping gear (including tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, and even mess kits), picnic sports (tennis, baseball, frisbee, bocci ball), and winter gear (snowshoes, cross-country skis, sleds, tobggans, and airboards)! Like I said, they have pretty much everything you could ever want or need. You can rent for the day, the weekend, or even through the week. 

My boyfriend and I rented snowshoes to explore Grandad Bluff on Saturday. We had the most amazing afternoon, and it only cost us $12, plus the price of drinks at The Alpine Inn; a much recommended stop!

*Tips: Call ahead to see if they have what you need. I believe you can reserve equipment ahead of time. The people at the desk are very helpful and can provide you with maps or guide books from the resource library. Ask about their trips & clinics, as well as non-profit group discounts. There is a price list for all rentals on their website. Check it out!
